School-wide Poetry Month: Day Five (Eric)

I chose "The Game of Stuff That You Love" because I love baseball, and I like underdog teams to win. I live in New York, which is why I moved the character to New York. I put the Jewels in my poem because the D-backs real name is the Diamondbacks, so that team name has the word diamond in it, so that's where I got the jewels idea. The Mets are in New York, so I put them in the game. I put the White Sox in the poem because that's a team that the character likes. I called it a game because it's kind of a baseball game with all this different stuff in it. I wrote this poem.

The Game of Stuff That You Love
I came from Boston,
like the Sox,
the white and red ones,
and the D-Backs, too.
Love Jewels, gems, emeralds,
diamonds mostly.
Came to New York City,
went to a Mets-White Sox
game, got used to New York
style--

But I came from Boston,
still liking the Sox,
the white and red ones,
and the D-Backs, too.
Love jewels, gems, emeralds,
diamonds mostly.
White Sox won, and I cheered
as loud as I could for
them Sox. It was a game about
Jewels, Baseball Teams, Style, Boston--
and New York. It was
a great game. I called it
the game of stuff that you
love.
